Project Quantity Surveyor – Residential
The Company
As one of the UK’s leading affordable housing construction services providers, we have a major impact on communities throughout the UK. Building or refurbishing some 26,000 homes every year, working through more than 50 affordable housing frameworks, we have exceptional expertise and experience across a wide range of projects including refurbishment, supported living, mixed-use, mixed-tenure, maintenance and PFI.
The Role
Two vacancies have arisen for a Project Surveyor based in North London. The successful candidate will take accountability for the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions and contact reporting.
Key Accountabilities include:
* Understanding and taking ownership of the project risks and opportunities, setting the performance objectives for the tender profit plan, programmes and group financial reporting.
* Developing relationships and engaging with the customer at the appropriate level to the project.
* Taking ownership for optimum cost control, cash and contractual management.
* Regularly reviewing subcontract safety audits prior to payment authorisation and actively promoting group SHE Policies.
* Ensuring all team members understand project accountabilities and objectives.
* Demonstrating understanding of internal and external tender strategies / build up.
* Agreeing external valuations / cash flow to maximise project value.
* Ensuring all subcontract management / process obligations are complete.
* Completing and submitting Group / Business Unit reports
* Implementing project strategies to maximise turnover, cash, profit, customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Both projects are new build social housing in North London and valued between £18m and £30m.
Skills and Capabilities
This role requires an advanced knowledge of:
* Construction methods and technologies
* Measurement and valuation
* Subcontract orders and buying
* Ability to use / understand financial reports and final accounts
* Candidates should have the ability to form and develop strong relationships with clients, PQS, design team and supply chain, and to develop commercial site teams
* Strong commercial skills are required to maximise value recovery, cost control and cash management
Essential Experience and Characteristics:
* Applicants must have experience working on residential schemes or mixed use schemes of £20m value upwards
* Applicants must be sharp and focused and keen for career progression
* Applicants should be versatile and adaptable
* Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong track record in their career to date showing longevity and progression with previous employers
