Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a wonderfull tool to keep abreat of your favourate blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video. Its simple to use and includes full or summarized text, plus metadata.
Every wondered if you could get your RSS direct to your phone. Well if you did then here is a short guide on how to using your Gmail account and existing text allowance. Please note the things you need and you can get cracking.
Things You'll Need:
* Gmail account.
* Sufficient credit/text allowance on your phone.
Steps to follow:
Step 1:
Find the URL for the RSS feed. You should be able to conviniently locate it on the blog/site you wish to follow.
In my case its: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/SwagbucksCode
Step 2:
Use the above Feedburner link to send post notification directly into your gmail.
Step 3:
Once you have activated and directed your feeds to your gamil account your ready to send them as texts.
Step 4:
Log into Gmail and at the top right, click on Settings.
Step 5
Click on “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
Step 6
Under forwarding, select the option to 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to' and type your cell phone number followed by '@' and the appropriate service provider instead of an email address.
E.g.
For O2 uk: 1234567@mmail.co.uk
